Lefkada
Lefkada is a lovely island, rich in vegetation and like the other Ionian islands has beautiful beaches that attract a variety of tourists. It has recently become more popular with the Athenians because you can drive to it. The island is connected to the Greek mainland by a small causeway and a bridge. Lefkada's main resort is Nydri, a 2km strip of villas, hotels, restaurants, bars, shops and agencies which is quite mild by the standards of Corfu or Zakynthos. Lefkada's lofty interior contains some scenic traditional villages where you can still get a strong sense of the Greece of days gone by. Lekada Town is under half an hour by road from Preveza airport, which has flights from Athens most days and charters from the UK and other northern European countries in season.
